PRESS RELEASE: Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash Claims Three Lives on Highway 111 near Heber, CA
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 3, 2026) — A devastating, multi-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon has left three people dead and others injured on State Route 111, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash occurred around 5:10 p.m. Pacific Time on February 2, 2026, in the area of State Route 111 and McCabe Road, just north of Heber, CA.
Collision Details
Preliminary investigation by the CHP indicates that a 50-year-old El Centro man was driving a 2007 Lincoln MKZ northbound on SR-111 in moderate traffic. For reasons still under investigation, the Lincoln veered to the left, crossing through the dirt center median into the southbound lanes.
The Lincoln then collided with a southbound Nissan Rogue and a southbound Honda Accord. The collision resulted in three fatalities, including the driver of the Lincoln and two women in the Nissan. The occupants of the Honda sustained minor injuries. The investigation into the crash, including whether impairment was a factor, is ongoing. Traffic was significantly impacted on SR-111 near McCabe Road.
